Weekend Recap

Good morning! Even though we are well into Spring, we had a chilly weekend here in Raleigh. On Friday afternoon Aaron and I drove south to Smithfield, NC to meet our wedding photographer to go over the shots from our engagement photo shoot. We went through our final shots and picked out which ones we wanted in our guest book and which ones we wanted to order as prints. It felt pretty awkward to sit in a studio and look through almost 100 pictures of yourself... That must be how fashion bloggers feel every day!

Later that evening we met our friends Kelly and Carmen for dinner and drinks downtown at Tir Na Nog. Somehow Aaron and I had gone almost a whole year without eating there (I'm really not sure how that happened...) but I am so glad that we finally did! I enjoyed a pint of Black & Tan and a burger while we listened to a band from Charlotte called, The Ghosts of Bannockburn play Flogging Molly songs!

After we finished dinner we walked around the City Market shops and studios and then Hargett Street, which was blocked off for First Friday! We had a few drinks, mingled with a few friends who we ran into, and even found ourselves at a cabaret show at a wine bar on Fayetville St. By 11:00 I was getting cold and tired so we headed home to snuggle with Skwisgaar.
On Saturday I woke up in super Spring cleaning mode! I vacuumed, dusted, and scrubbed almost everything in our apartment. Skiwsgarr couldn't figure out what was going on. Cleaning our apartment makes me feel so good and accomplished.

After my cleaning spree I met Iris at the NC Museum of Art for lunch at the museum restaurant, which is called Iris! We had such a good time catching up, talking about big life choices and having fun in the sculpture garden. I am so glad that I got to spend time with her before she graduates with a masters degree from Elon next week (!) and moves back to Baltimore where she will be spending the summer at Camp Louise as the Multimedia Department Head (yeeeeah!)

The rest of my Saturday was spent watching the final 4 episodes of The Following with Aaron and then we went to Best Buy to try to buy a copy of Star Trek, but they were all sold out. Boo. I ended up going to bed early because I wasn't feeling very good.

BIG NEWS! Aaron and I have a photo in the Spring issue of Ohio Today, which is a magazine for alumni and friends of Ohio University! The photo is from our trip this paste January to St. Lucia!

That's not even where the good news ends... Our picture is on the same page as our friends and fellow Raleighite, Cassie and Pat! Their photo is from their recent trip to Ecuador! Bobcat pride and Raleigh pride! You can see both photos in the online edition of Ohio Today Sprint 2013.

Yesterday, Aaron and I went to see Iron Man 3 at the Raleigh Grande. It was so good! I was sad when it was over because it might be the last Iron Man movie. After the movie we ran errands and then I went to the gym to run in preparation for the Great Glow Run 5k, which is this weekend! AAhhhh! I'm excited but I don't think I'm ready yet!

Hope you had a good weekend!

"If I Die in Raleigh" Burlap Throw Pillow created by tootyb. If you live in North Carolina, especially Raleigh, you need to have this pillow featuring Old Crow Medicine Show lyrics on your couch.

Yesterday was the first annual OUr Day, which is a day to celebrate the fact that you're an Ohio University alumnus—and part of the Bobcat Nation! I would love to show my Bobcat pride by wearing these amazing Ohio University Bobcats Toms Shoes created by Custom Toms Shoes by JC.

Identity-Based Habits: How to Actually Stick to Your Goals by James Clear. This is an article posted on Quora, so if you don't have an account you may not be able to read it, but I recommend that you sing up for an account. It's free and the articles are great!

We were given a NutriBullet at our wedding shower last month and I am LOVING it! I have been using fresh greens and fresh apples from our local NC State Farmers Market mixed with frozen berries and almond milk every morning to make a NutriBlast. I feel energized, my skin is completely clear, and I have already lost a little bit of weight over the past 2 weeks. I love this thing! I will post a few of my favorite recipes soon!

I know everyone is probably focusing on the events that are happening in Boston this morning. I hope that everything goes well and no one else gets hurt.

Despite the rain storms in the forecast, Aaron and I are planning on going to a Shabbat cookout tonight with the Raleigh Tribe. Hope you have a good weekend!

Wedding Wednesday: Ohio Couples Shower

Last week we celebrated the first event of our "wedding season". Aaron's mom and sister threw us an "Ohio University is for Lovers" themed couples wedding shower at a country club in Akron. We had so much fun!

We enjoyed an amazing brunch, visited with family and friends, played a 20 questions game, and opened gifts!

The entire show flew by in a flash, when we were packing up the car I could hardly believe that it was over. We are so grateful that we have and will continue to have so many opportunities to celebrate with our loved ones!

Better Than the Best Ever

Happy Homecoming!

We had an AMAZING trip to Athens this weekend for OU Homecoming 2012!

We drove up on Friday morning with our friends Cassie and Bryan who live in Raleigh. We went to Shabbat services at Hillel, watched the O's game and had jello shots at Lucky's, ordered dinner at Pita Pit, reunited with friends at our favorite bars uptown, walked around College Green, walked through Baker Student Center, went to Brennen's for breakfast (twice!), watched the homecoming parade, sang the OU fight song, danced along with the Marching 110, reunited with even more alumni friends at Red Brick, had lunch at the new Jackie O's, went to the football game to cheer our Bobcats to victory (7 and Oh!) stocked up on Bobcat gear, took a trip to Hocking St., had DP Dough for dinner and went to Sonic for Limeaids (Sonice Ice!) and made it back to Raleigh in time to recharge on Sunday night! Whew! It was a whirlwind weekend but it was 100% worth it to spend some time in Athens with our friends and share our love for Ohio University.

We can't wait until next year! GO OHIO!

2) Glenwood South. What a view!

3) Aaron and I getting pumped to watch the OHIO vs. Penn State football game. We watched the first half of the game with the Raleigh Ohio Alumni group downtown.

4) Bobcats win!!!! Promptly after the Bobcats won I passed out for 16 hours. I didn't realized how tired I was until I woke up the next morning...

5) On Sunday before running errands Aaron and I stopped at the Stonehenge shopping center on Creedmoor for our first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season!

6) We skipped the overpriced pastry at Starbucks and took our coffee across the parking lot to Daylight Donuts where I devoured this delicious oreo donut!

7) Sleepy cuddle time on the couch on a rainy Sunday afternoon. We watched What to Expect When You're Expecting and Snow White &  the Huntsman. Reviews to come!

8) Today Aaron and I hit the gym this morning and then met up with our friends Brittany and Andrew at Chuck's downtown for lunch. It was amazing! I spotted this Ferris Bueller's street art on our walk back to the car.

Hope you enjoyed your long weekend as much as we did!
