Passover Seder Inspiration

Now that we have reached the first day of Spring it's time for one of my favorite holiday traditions - searching the corners of the Internet to create a new Pinterest board! This time it's for Passover, which starts on Monday evening.

The ecard above is telling it true. Unless you attend or host a themed Seder, (have you been to a 1960's flower child Seder? We have!) it's a holiday that doesn't call for much more than a beautifully set table and a vase or two of fresh flowers. Passover is one of the only holidays that we don't have a box of decorations for. The main focus is the Seder table and the story of the exodus from Egypt.

Even so, I have decided to post a collection of my favorite Passover entertaining ideas and recipes that I found this year. If you need inspiration or ideas for your Passover Seder, this Pinboard will help you out.

Wedding Wednesday: Pinterest & WeddingFOMO

Happy Wedding Wednesday! I meant to publish this post earlier this morning, but I decided to stay in bed for an extra 10 minutes instead. It was cold! Okay, today I want to discuss something new that I have started to expiereence since we started planning our wedding - it's called FOMO.

FOMO stands for "fear of missing out". It's the fear that you feel that you will miss out on something huge if you don't do something or participate in an event. I heard a few of my friends use this term a few times back in college.

Personally, I had never really had this feeling until I started to experience WeddingFOMO - fear of missing out on seeing something that could be totally awesome for our wedding!

What do I have to thank for this feeling? Pinterest!

Once I get started looking at wedding themed boards on Pinterest, I can lose hours in the blink of an eye! I keep opening in new tabs, endlessly "liking" pins, and bookmarking pages to look through later on.

I guess I will have WeddingFOMO until we say our I do's (hopefully it will stop once we get married...what if it never ends?!) Here are a few of my favorite wedding pins.

Favorite Hanukkah Decor & Party Ideas

I was hard at work over the weekend searching the corners of the Internet, reading archived articles from the Jew and the Carrot, and stretching my imagination to think of every possible way to decorate with gelt to put together a fresh collection of ideas for my Hanukkah Pinterest board, which has now doubled in size from last year (over 140 pins!).

If you need some ideas for your abode or next party, this Pinboard will be your new favorite Festival of Lights resource.

Do you feel inspired!? I do. I am saving up all of these wonderful ideas for the future when we have a bigger home to decorate and host parties in.

Happy Hanukkah!

Pinterest Party

Last night I went to my first event with the Raleigh Tribe, which is an organization for people ages 23-35ish who are interested in meeting new people, exploring Raleigh and getting involved in the local Jewish community. I have been looking forward to participating in events with this group since my friend Brittany, who happens to be one of the leaders of the group, told me about it when Aaron and I told her that we had decided to move to Raleigh.

Every other month the Raleigh Tribe organizes an event based on a project found on Pinterest (you can view my Pinterest page by clicking on the button on the side bar). Members and friends of the tribe are invited to come together to crate craft projects, nosh, and socialize. The event last night was called Pinterested: Mezuzah Edition and the project was, as I'm sure you can guess, making a mezuzah.

Everyone brought a mini airplane liquor bottle to use as the base of the mezuzah. After we emptied the contents of each bottle and mixed up a cocktail or two, we rinsed them out, covered them with decorative fimo clay and beads, then baked them in the oven to set the clay.

Getting crafty with new friends!
Twist and smush!
My mezuzah finished and ready to go into the oven.
Everyone's finished mezuzot!

Helping our hostess hang a beautiful mezuzah.
I am so happy that I was able to go to this event! I met some wonderful ladies and got to exercise my crafty skills, which I love to do! If you are a Jewish young adult living in the Raleigh area be sure to check out the list of events on the Raleigh Tribe Facebook page and join us at the next event. It is a great opportunity to meet new people and visit new places around Raleigh.
